Special Educational Needs Inclusion Fund (SENIF)
SENIF is a financial contribution to settings to help support children with lower levels or emerging levels of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Early Years Providers should make reference to the East Sussex County Council’s SEN Matrix: SEN Matrix | Czone (eastsussex.gov.uk). The Special Educational Needs Matrix is a framework to provide a shared understanding on how to identify and meet special educational needs (SEN).
SENIF is allocated to enable early years providers to implement support at an SEN support and Targeted Level.
Your setting can use the funding to:
- develop a child's independence
- provide access to the learning environment
- enhance successful outcomes for children with SEND

Special Educational Needs Enhanced Level Fund (SENELF)
SENELF is additional funding that can be allocated to children aged 0-5 with more complex special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Early Years Providers should make reference to the East Sussex County Council’s SEN Matrix: SEN Matrix | Czone (eastsussex.gov.uk). The Special Educational Needs Matrix is a framework to provide a shared understanding on how to identify and meet special educational needs (SEN).
SENELF is allocated to enable early years providers to implement SEN support at an enhanced level.
In order to be eligible for this funding, your setting must:
- Provide specific details on your child’s support
- Be working towards full-time attendance
- Review a child’s progress with parent/carers at least three times a year
- Implement advice from specialists, including SEND Early Years Service, CITES and medical professionals
