Persistent Absence

Latest

From 09 October 2023 we will be launching a new Czone website. The new site has been redesigned and restructured, based on feedback from Schools, Colleges and Settings. We hope the new site will help all education providers to easily access useful information and resources. You will still be able to access the site using the link czone.eastsussex.gov.uk.

Monitoring persistent absence

To help monitor levels of persistent absence, all primary and secondary schools in East Sussex need to submit data on pupils who are often absent from school. This data should be submitted at the end of terms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Your school needs to submit the following data:

  • Number and names of pupils who are at risk of becoming persistent absentees (those with absences exceeding the thresholds for each period)
  • Number and names of pupils who are already persistent absentees (those who at the time of reporting have an attendance of below 90%)

How to submit pupil data

Information is sent to all schools annually on how to report pupil data, which must be done via secure email. If you have any queries, please contact the Education Support Behaviour and Attendance Service.
