Leadership Reviews

Leadership reviews can be commissioned by the local authority (LA), Primary Board (PB) or brokered by the school itself. Leadership reviews are commissioned for schools:

  1. That self-assess as category 3 or 4 and are deemed to be at risk of an Ofsted judgement of Requires Improvement (RI) or lower;
  2. Whose LA category has been lowered because of concerns or data (even though their Ofsted category may be higher);
  3. Whose data indicates that they may drop to an LA category below their Ofsted category.

Schools can also broker their own leadership reviews, drawing on the LA team and this guidance.

These reviews may be particularly useful for schools who are looking to review progress. For example, schools who are: - midpoint between inspections; - into a new headteacher’s tenure.
