Support for safeguarding in schools


The 175 (157 for Independent Schools)  Safeguarding Audit Toolkit and Action Plan for Schools/Academies and Colleges NEW 2017-18 version is now available for completion.  The toolkit has been completely re-modelled and streamlined to aid school completion and LA collation and analysis. Please note that:

The Safeguarding Governors’ Checklist 2017-18  has also been updated to reflect the NEW 2017-18 175/157 Audit Toolkit.

The Standards and Learning Effectiveness Service (SLES) provides a range of services to support schools, academies and FE colleges with improving provision for safeguarding, some of which are traded. These include conducting safeguarding practice reviews in schools, offering bespoke consultancy in schools, providing whole staff training in safeguarding, and conducting investigations where there are complaints or concerns raised.

SLES also facilitate regular networks for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) which are largely grouped within Educational Improvement Partnerships (EIPs). All DSLs are welcome to attend and contribute ideas for agendas and discussion items.
